Star Scoring System
In addition to the numeric score, GRESB assigns a relative star rating from 1 to 5, based on peer comparison. GRESB comparisons are made within peer groups, which are typically defined by geography, asset type (e.g., residential, office, student housing), and strategy type (e.g., core, value add, development). This ensures that portfolios are benchmarked against comparable strategies and asset profiles. The star rating reflects relative performance within a peer group, not absolute performance. As a result, scores and ratings can change year to year based on both participant performance and peer benchmarking.
